Engineering Drawing

This course is an Undergraduate Course which aims to equip students with basic skills required in engineering drawings. Why Engineering Drawing? As a biosystems engineer, an engineer or technologist in food industry and sciences, and or an engineer in irrigation and water sciences, you will inevitably be required to communicate with different people for different reasons. In some situations, communications will be sufficiently conducted by use of a plain text. However, in other situations, text alone may not be sufficient and a more specialized form of communication (technical/engineering drawing) may be irreplaceably useful. Drawing (just like photography) is one of the basic forms of visual communication that includes two major types of artistic drawings and technical drawings.

The course contents include:

  • Drawing tools
  • Orthographic or multi-view drawings
  • Dimensioning
  • Surfaces and volumes analysis
  • Drawing unknown view from given views
  • Perspective drawing
  • Normal isometric and dimetric perspective drawing
  • Cavalier and cabinet perspective drawing
  • Sectioning
  • Cross-sectional views
  • Half-sections
  • Sections of objects with holes, ribs, etc.
